Some couples bring an unmistakable calm to their wedding day—and Rachel and Pete are the kind of people who make that look effortless. From the moment the day began, their energy set the tone: relaxed, joyful, and deeply connected. Rachel’s laughter—genuine and frequent—floated through every space she entered at the Peterson-Dumesnil House, while Pete was calm and steady – a quiet and thoughtful presence in a room of his closest friends. I think Pete’s quiet nature made it even more hilarious and enjoyable when Pete broke out a cowbell on the reception stage around 10pm (check it out below!!)
You hear the phrase all the time—he couldn’t take his eyes off her—but in Pete’s case, it was actually true on Saturday! Throughout the day, whether in the midst of a crowd or during the quiet moments in between, I caught him watching Rachel with smile. It wasn’t performative or posed—it was simply where his attention kept returning. As a photographer, moments like these don’t need to be manufactured; they just unfold. And I’m so glad we were there to see them up close. From the private moments of emotion to Pete’s cowbell performance to the Kentucky Derby Bugler playing “My Old Kentucky Home”, I couldn’t have asked for a more iconic wedding day to photograph.
One of the most meaningful moments came as the couple made their entrance to the reception in Rachel’s dad’s Mercedes. It was more than just a stylish ride—it was a way to carry a piece of her father with them into the celebration. Andy’s presence was woven throughout the day in subtle, heartfelt ways. He was remembered in stories and in laughter, in a few tears, and in the unmistakable love everyone shared for Rachel and Pete.
From beginning to end, this day was supported by an absolutely phenomenal vendor team – I was blown away by the cheerful and energetic attitudes of literally every vendor we interacted with. The attention to detail and true care for the couple was a constant theme and I’m so thrilled to share these images that each vendor had a part in creating.
Pete and Rachel, thank you for allowing US to have a part in your wedding day – what a privilege! We are so excited for you and to share these photos of a day you will never forget.
