I’ve tried to write this blog in my head multiple times. How do you talk about such a special wedding day? Every wedding is precious and unique. I tear up during most weddings, the reality of two people committing to one another is always sweet and emotional. But this wedding? This Southern Indiana wedding was special to us in so many ways.
First, I’ve known Asa and his family since he was 5ish years old. His parents helped lead my student ministry when I was a teenager. I babysat for them. We were at the same church, then different churches, and finally at our current church together. They’ve watched our kids in our home as I worked full-time. They were my very first photography clients. Recently, I took Asa’s sister Maddie’s senior portraits. We consider them to be family. Photographing Asa’s wedding was a full-circle moment for our business and such a joy for Jeremy and I!
Second, it is a delight to see how God has made Kate for Asa. I remember the moment that Asa’s mom Allison told me “there’s this girl!!” and it was soon very obvious that this wasn’t just ANY girl. After all, with a name like Kate Middleton, she HAD to be amazing! And she is! Our family quickly fell in love with Kate. She is kind, earnest and full of LIFE. Throughout the wedding day, I heard Kate thoughtfully asking the opinions of others and enjoying the people around her. She is a joy to be around and we are so thankful to know her.
Kate & Asa’s wedding day in Southern Indiana was not without its challenges and surprises (thank you, COVID) but you would never know it from the way that they acted all day. They were calm and happy, so ready to join together as a married couple. Some of my favorite moments were Kate’s mom Carri and Asa’s mom Allison both helping Kate into her dress, a first look with the bridesmaids, the amazing lavender sendoff (it smelled SO GOOD) and the sweet goodbyes shared with their families. I’m so excited to share these moments with you!
